What is the METSTRADE Show?
Later this month, the 35th annual METSTRADE Show will take place. It is the world’s largest leisure marine equipment trade show aimed at marine industry professionals.
With around 1700 exhibitors and thousands of visitors expected, it is an annual event where the leisure marine industry congregates. It’s a great networking opportunity as well as a chance to witness the latest innovations in marine equipment, construction materials and marine systems.
It is organised around ‘country pavilions’ nearly all of which are organised by their respective national marine industry association. There are twenty nine countries represented from multiple continents.
What is the history of the METSTRADE Show?
METSTRADE emerged after the demise of the former European Marine Trade Exhibition (EMTEC) which was held in Hamburg from 1970 to 1991. The need emerged for a purely B2B event focused on leisure marine equipment because in later years the EMTEC had become a hybrid B2C and B2B event merged with the Hamburg boat show.
The first show was held in 1988 with only two national pavilions and 119 exhibitors and only 2750 visitors. Key developments in the show’s history include the first DAME Design awards in 1991 which would become the most prestigious accolade for marine equipment manufacturers. After greatly restricted shows in 2020 and 2021, the latest METSTRADE show in 2022 recovered to attract 1437 exhibitors and 26479 attendees.
When and where is METSTRADE 2023?

There will also be a new careers section situated in the Young Professionals Club.
Travel and Parking
For those hoping to use public transport, Metro 52 or tram 4 stops right in front of the RAI. RAI Amsterdam is only a couple of minutes walk from the RAI train station.
Though show organisers are not encouraging driving, RAI Amsterdam is situated just off the A10 ring motorway (exit 9) and has its own underground car park. Alternatively, during major events signposts along the ring road will direct you to one of the car parks on the edge of Amsterdam, where a shuttle bus will bring you to the RAI.
